The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has released its latest report, and the findings highlight a surge in industry-damaging cyber threats across the UK.
Between September 2024 and August 2025, the NCSC:
- Handled 429 cyberattacks, with 18 classified as highly significant — a 50% increase year-on-year.
- Recorded 204 nationally significant incidents, marking a 130% surge from the previous year.
- Found that 50% of UK businesses experienced a cybersecurity breach or attack in the past 12 months, with phishing remaining the most common entry point.
These statistics underline a worrying trend: cyber threats are no longer just isolated IT issues, but are a board-level risk, capable of disrupting operations, damaging reputation, and exposing sensitive data.
These figures from the National Cyber Security Centre send a clear message: cybercriminals are becoming more sophisticated, and attacks are spreading across every layer of the enterprise, including mobile devices, which now represent one of the fastest-growing targets for phishing, malware, and credential theft.
The ever-expanding attack surface
Whilst laptops and PCs are often seen as the main risks to a business, what is frequently overlooked are mobile phones and tablets. As companies increasingly move their data to the cloud, business mobiles and tablets can now access as much company data as traditional hardware. With a rise in businesses embracing hybrid work and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, the attack surface has expanded dramatically. Mobiles, tablets and laptops are indispensable business tools, but are also prime targets for cybercriminals.
From malicious applications and unsecured Wi-Fi connections to mobile phishing and 0-day exploits, cyber threats are tearing holes in corporate visibility and control. From M&S Cyber Attacks, to attacks on Jaguar Landover, it demonstrates that traditional end-point security alone is no longer enough to prevent the threats. More sophisticated attacks means that we too need higher-end security and threat-prevention.
But what are the most concerning risks?
- Malware attacks: software designed to damage or disrupt systems.
- Ransomware attacks: locking systems or data until payment is made.
- Identity theft: stealing personal or corporate credentials.
- Phishing attacks: deceptive attempts to obtain sensitive information.
- Security Breach: general compromise of data or systems.
With so many variations of threats, without multi-layered security, your business could be at risk.

The Power of EMM + MTD: a unified defence strategy
In order to stay ahead of modern threats, businesses must develop unified and adaptive security measures to safeguard data, devices and employees, and by combining our Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) service and Mobile Threat Defence (MTD) service, you can do that.
- Enterprise Mobility Management enables companies to securely manage and configure mobile devices, enforcing compliance policies and protecting sensitive or corporate data through access controls.
- Mobile Threat Defence complements this by detecting and responding to threats in real time, analysing device behaviour, app integrity, and network activity to block attacks before they escalate.
Together, EMM and MTD provide the visibility, control, and intelligence needed to protect today’s mobile workforce, whether employees are in the office, at home, or on the move.
